Soaking Up Summer in Central Oregon

We’re fully immersed in everything summer has to offer here in Central Oregon. Over the past few weeks, our family has been camping, hopping between festivals, and backpacking throughout the Cascades.

In my downtime, I’ve been chasing evening dry fly hatches near the headwaters of the Deschutes. The fishing has ranged from good to great—depending on the night and the mosquito situation. Soon, I’ll be shifting focus to summer steelhead on the North Umpqua and Lower Deschutes.

Market Update: A Shift Toward Buyers

The real estate market has clearly swung into a buyer’s market. Inventory is at a 10-year high, and while interest rates remain steady, buyers have more leverage than we’ve seen in a long time. If you’re buying this year, now is the time to negotiate for the best deal—think closing cost credits, rate buy-downs, and seller concessions.

For sellers, pricing is everything. Be realistic, and don’t cling to 2021 price expectations. Homes that are competitively priced and move-in ready are the ones getting attention—and selling.
